Kathy Donahue

After dealing with the ravages of Alzheimer's disease for several years, Kathleen Donahue, age 74, of Waterville, OH passed away peacefully as a brilliant sun rose over Hospice of Northwest Ohio early Saturday morning, November 9, 2024. Born to a loving and caring family on October 15, 1950; a family rich in Irish heritage, Kathleen was the fourth of the eight children born to John and Jessie (Mellon) McIlhargey of Toledo, OH. She was a member of the 1968 graduating class of Cardinal Stritch High School, after which she went to work as an Executive Secretary in Area Development for the Toledo Edison. During and after her secretarial career, and for the remainder of her life, Kathleen was a devoted, caring, and loving wife and mother. As part of this lifetime dedication was an unwavering commitment to her Catholic faith, acting as a model and tutor for her family through the many hours spent in the Adoration Chapel of St. Joseph Catholic church in Maumee, OH. One of the many things Kathleen will be remembered by her family for was her favorite saying; "may the Holy Angels surround and protect you" every time one of them left her sight. She is survived by her husband of fifty-four years, Terrence "Terry" Donahue, and seven of their eight children, Carrie Flagg (Chris), Megan Rozic (Jeff), Sean, Molly, Katey (Patrick Meese), Briege Saunders (Ethan), and Colin; as well as nine grandchildren. Kathleen is also survived by her sisters, Maryann Pemberton (Dave), Colleen Bury, Ann Kontur (Dave), Rita Ivan (Mike) and Carmen Moore (Denny); many nieces and nephews; and her sister-in-law, Lyne McIlhargey. She is predeceased by her parents; daughter, Darcy; and brothers, John McIlhargey, Patrick McIlhargey, and James McIlhargey. Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd., Toledo, OH 43614, on Wednesday, November 13th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. where a Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, November 14th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 104 W. Broadway, Maumee, OH. 43537. Internment will immediately follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, W. Wayne St., Maumee, OH 43537. Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Joseph Church.
