Barbra L. Davis

Barbra L. Davis, born to Russell and Bernadine Younkin in Fostoria, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at the University of Toledo Medical Center on December 8, 2009 A native of the Risingsun, Ohio, area, Barbra was an elementary school teacher, certified to teach the talented and gifted. She taught for several years in Fostoria and then in Toledo for the Toledo Public School System. She was a popular and beloved teacher who enjoyed teaching cursive writing and nurturing the abilities of her students. She retired in 1986. Barbra volunteered in an adult literacy program and supported many charitable causes, namely the American Indian Relief Fund. She was an avid reader and enjoyed reading all non-fiction material. American history, our past presidents lives and the American wars were her favorites. Barbra had an interest in horseback riding as a child and boating in the Great Lakes over a twenty year period with her husband and children. Her self proclaimed "hobby" was shopping. She and her husband of 54 years, Hal, also enjoyed outings and traveling with their many friends. Described by many as the kindest person you could ever meet, Barbra was always active and recently spent time enjoying her close friends, book club, and family, which she cherished greatly. Barbra is survived by her husband Hal, son Bill (Victoria Williams) Davis; daughter SueAnn (Scott Hutchinson) Rodgers; grandchildren Tyler and Sarah-Ann; sister Debra (Don) Correll, sister-in-law Patricia Hanson, many other relatives, nieces, nephews, close friends called "The Group", and the family cat Jimba. Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd on Sunday Dec. 13, 2009 from 3-7 pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday Dec. 14 at Zion United Methodist Church at the corner on Copland and the Anthony Wayne Trail at 10:30 am. The family will greet guest starting at 9:45 am. Entombment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may take the form of a contribution to Zion United Methodist Church. A special thanks to Barbra's nurse, Amanda, at the University of Toledo Medical Center. May God hold your beautiful soul in His loving arms and keep you. Your love remains in our hearts forever.
