Beatrice M. Kontak May 12, 1920 - March 01, 2008 Mrs. Beatrice Kontak, 87, passed in peace at the Lutheran Village at Wolf Creek, Saturday, March 1, 2008. Born Beatrice Landwehr on May 12, 1920, Bea married Arthur E. Kontak, August 17, 1940 and was his faithful partner for fifty-eight years until his death on January 29, 1999. Bea was the beloved mother of her children, James R. (Joann) Kontak, Annie Kontak, Sue Muller (Ron Goodman), and Mike (Karen) Kontak. She was the cherished grandmother of Christina (Danny) Bordelon, Amy (Ronald) Miller, James A. (Andrea) Kontak, Joshua Kontak, Rosie Kontak, David Kontak, Rob (Gretchen) Muller, Annette Muller (Conal Wilmot), Cathy Muller (Fiancee, Brandon Hardy), Marissa Kontak, Joe Kontak, and Mike Kontak. She was a special great-grandma to Alexandria Hurst Miller, Matt and Luke Miller, Andrew and Jeremy Bordelon, Sophia and Ava Kontak and Charlotte Muller. Bea's faith sustained her throughout her life. She served Immanuel Lutheran Evangelical Church for many years, with an active role in broader church activities such as the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and the Gideons Auxiliary. She volunteered twenty-seven years of Thursdays in service to the Lutheran Home in Oregon, Ohio. She also taught weekday Bible school at Immanuel, preparing diligently for her students. Her faith was simple and enduring. Bea enjoyed the outdoors. She loved gardening and feeding the birds, being in nature and close to water and having cookouts with her family. She also enjoyed baseball, especially the Tigers and was a loyal devotee of the Lawrence Welk Show and WPOS FM Christian Radio. In addition to her immediate family, Bea leaves her sister, Alva Stallbaum of Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is also survived by her loving nieces and nephews who have many happy memories of "Aunt Bea", by her devoted friends at Immanuel Lutheran Church and by kind neighbors who are also good friends. Bea goes to join her dear husband, Arthur E. Kontak, her parents, William and Stella Landwehr, her twin sister and best friend, Bernice Kontak, (married to Arthur's brother, Henry Kontak, deceased) and her brother, Paul Landwehr. Bea's family is grateful for the compassionate care of the nurses and aids of both Northwest Ohio Hospice Association and Lutheran Village at Wolf Creek as well as the many other staff members, family members, friends and neighbors who were there for Ban and for her family.. Friends may call at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Road Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. The funeral will begin Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Immanuel Lutheran Church, 710 Buckeye at Erie Streets in North Toledo. Interment Ft. Meigs Cemetery, Perrysburg.
