Carole Beverly Hunter

Carole Beverly Hunter passed away peacefully on May 28, 2026, surrounded by the love of her devoted husband and family. Born on May 7, 1936, in Detroit, Michigan, to Josephine (Betty) Greene and Gerald Greene, Carole lived a life defined by love, strength, faith, and devotion to those she held dear. After marrying the love of her life, Richard (Dick) Hunter, on October 14, 1954, she made her home in Toledo, Ohio, where together they built a beautiful life and family. Carole and Dick made their home in Toledo's Old West End and were longtime parishioners of Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she shared her gifts generously through the Sodality Club and the Cathedral Players, where she delighted in performing in many productions and building lasting friendships along the way. Carole was a remarkable woman whose determination and grace inspired everyone who knew her. In the early 1970s, while raising six children, she put herself through school and earned her real estate license. She later graduated summa cum laude from the University of Toledo in 1991. Through talent, perseverance, and hard work, she rose to become manager and vice president of one of Toledo's largest real estate companies, The Danberry Company. She served as President of the Board of Realtors and was especially proud to help bring the National Realtors Convention to Toledo when the convention center first opened. Known to many as "Toledo's Hometown Mom," Carole was admired not only for her professional accomplishments, but also for the kindness, encouragement, and mentorship she offered to so many throughout her life. Beyond her many accomplishments, Carole's greatest joy was her family and the time she spent with those she loved. She enjoyed bridge clubs, tennis, and volunteering at church, but she was perhaps happiest when welcoming others into her home. She was a wonderful cook, a gracious hostess, and the heart behind many treasured gatherings. Her Christmas parties were legendary and created memories her family and friends will cherish forever. Carole and Dick also loved spending summers in Gaylord, Michigan, at their cottage on Arbutus Beach at Otsego Lake, where she found special joy in the water, the sunshine, and the company of family and dear friends. Carole's love lives on in the family she cherished so deeply. She is survived by her beloved husband of 71 years, Richard Hunter; her sons, Richard Keith (Jill) of Toledo, Ohio, Laurence (Kathleen) of Gaylord, Michigan, Stephen (Paul Casarez) of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Robert of Columbus, Ohio; and her daughters, Kristin (Michael) Bowman of Maumee, Ohio, and Adrienne (Steve) Taneff of Westerville, Ohio. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Susan (Nate), Anthony, Alexandra (Will), Bailey (Devin), Audrey (Jacob), Nicholas, Cameron, Kathryn, and Olivia, as well as eight great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of immense pride and joy to her. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Gerald Rodney Greene, and her sister Patricia Kroh. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Carole's life at visitation at Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Road, Toledo, on Thursday, June 4, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m, with a Rosary service at 6:30. An additional visitation will be held on Friday, June 5, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 6149 Hill Avenue, Toledo, followed by the funeral Mass at 12:00 noon.
