Charles Francis Murawa

Charles F. Murawa, age 82, passed away peacefully at home on January 17, 2017. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on August 30, 1934 to John and Erma Murawa. Chuck attended Rosary Cathedral for elementary school and proudly graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1952. He served in the U.S. Army in Munich, Germany, returning in 1955 and completing his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Toledo. He worked for 35 years in sales beginning his career at Ohio Plate Glass Company and retiring from McGranahan’s Distributing Co. Upon retiring Chuck spent his time volunteering at various organizations including being involved in the R.S.V.P program sponsored by the Toledo Police Department, Hospice of Northwest Ohio, St. Anne’s Hospital, and the Ursuline Center. Over the years he was very active in numerous roles at Gesu Catholic Church. On October 3, 1959 Chuck married the love of his life Dorothy (Keil). Together they had 12 children who kept them very busy and content. Gesu and other Catholic communities in Toledo were an important part of Chuck’s life. Chuck and Dottie relied on these communities as their foundation for raising their children and grandchildren. Chuck is preceded in death by his son Michael, his parents John and Erma Murawa, in-laws Frank and Catherine Keil, sister Sue Murawa, brother Donald Norris, and nephew Steven Murawa. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Dorothy, and children, Charlene (Bob) Donelan, Donna (Kevin) Katafias, Patrick Murawa, Mary (Dave) Super, Christine (Christopher) Foetisch, Debbie McDonald, Kathy Murawa, Brenda Murawa, Dan (Kate) Murawa, Gretchen Murawa, and Maureen (Jamie) Karubas. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren that include Brian, Patrick, Megan and Michael Donelan, Michael, Alex and Kyle Super, Jack and Kylie Foetisch, Natalie, Benjamin, Daniel and Samantha McDonald, Colleen Murawa, Owen Charles and Anna Murawa, and Isabel and Olivia Karubas. He is also survived by his brothers Philip and John Thomas Murawa and sister Janet Willson. Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd. on Sunday January 22, 2017 from 2-8pm.where a Scripture Service will be held at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday January 23rd. beginning at 10:15 am in the mortuary followed by the Funeral Mass in Gesu Catholic Church at 11:00 am. Interment Calvary Cemetery.
