Dawn Leigh Andrews

Dawn Leigh Andrews, 56, of Sylvania, Ohio, passed away on February 4, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer-one she fought with strength, grit, and a signature sense of humor that kept everyone around her laughing, including her medical team. Born in Toledo, Ohio, on November 15, 1969, Dawn was the daughter of Tom Andrews and Darlene (Dupies) Whitaker. She grew up in Toledo, Ohio and later moved to Florida where she had her son Tryston. She graduated from St. Ursula Academy and later from Owens Community College with an Associate's Degree in Accounting. Dawn was a devoted mother to her son, Tryston Andrews, who was truly the light of her life. She was also a fiercely proud grandmother who adored her grandchildren, Charlee (4) and Braxton (1), soaking up every moment she could with them. A lifelong Ohio State fan, Dawn never missed a chance to cheer on the Buckeyes. She was known for her sassy personality, dark sense of humor, and quick wit-traits that made every family gathering louder, funnier, and more memorable. Dawn loved spending time with family, cherished her many nieces and nephews, and had a deep love for dogs, especially her beloved Bentley and Oreo. Dawn is survived by her son Tryston Andrews and daughter-in-law Natalie (Appledorn) Andrews; grandchildren Charlee and Braxton; her father Tom Andrews (Sherry Andrews); her mother Darlene Whitaker (Mike Whitaker); and her stepmother Sue (Cappitelli) Andrews. She is also survived by her siblings: Julie (Andrews) Couillard; Tim Andrews and Rachel Maulucci; Leslie (Andrews) Athmer and Brian Athmer; Bridgette (Whitaker) Beeler and Jon Beeler; Jennifer (Whitaker) Antonelli and Nick Antonelli; Wendy (Whitaker) Angermann and Adam Angermann; and Ashlie (Whitaker) Velker and Matt Velker; along with MANY beloved nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Nederhouser Community Hall in Olander Park. Guests are encouraged to dress "Dawn style"-casual and comfortable. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Dawn's honor to the Williams Syndrome Association at: Dawn's laughter, strength, and love will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
