Domingo Herrera Valadez

Domingo H. Valadez, born on May 15, 1932 in San Diego, TX, peacefully passed away on July 9, 2024, at the age of 92. Domingo was a cherished member of the community, known for his generosity and kind spirit. He was married to Juanita "Janie" Salinas in 1955, and they shared many wonderful years together until her passing. Domingo started working as a migrant worker from the second grade, and later moved to Toledo, where he joined CSX Railroad, dedicating 29 years of hard work to the company until his retirement. Domingo was a devout Catholic and an active volunteer. He served as an usher at Saints Peter and Paul and Immaculate Conception Church, reflecting his deep faith and commitment to his community. He found joy in playing bingo, gardening, walking, and biking, and was always eager to help others with their landscape and house painting. Domingo's generosity with his time and resources touched many lives, making him beloved by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents Faustino and Eulalia (Herrera) Valadez, his wife, Juanita, two infant children Rafael Valadez and Ricardo Valadez; grandson James Justin Baker his sisters Amalia Zalara, Nativida Escobar, Catalina Garcia, Beda Navejar, and brothers Lino Valadez, Simon Valadez, and Francisco Valadez. Domingo is survived by his loving children, Esmeralda (Richard) Nicely, Sylvia (Aurelio) Cordero, Domingo (Denise) Valadez, Jr., Irma D. (Martin) Salas, Sr., Linda Valadez, Rebecca (Daniel) Chambless, Cynthia Jane (Matthew) Deye, Luis (Jody) Valadez, Lino (Sheri) Valadez, and Dora (David) Motl. He also leaves behind 35 grandchildren, 83 great-grandchildren (one on the way), and 12 great-great-grandchildren (and one on the way). Domingo is also survived by his sisters Isidora Ysassi and Delma (Juan) Garces. Domingo's legacy of kindness and service will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by his family, friends, and community. Visitation will be held at Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd., Toledo, Ohio on Monday, July 15, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will begin in the mortuary on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. The Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 738 S. St. Clair St., Toledo, Ohio 43609. Interment will take place at a later date in Robstown, Texas.
