Grace Justine Sattler

GRACE KARSHNER SATTLER Grace Karshner Sattler , Toledo, passed away peacefully Monday, January 11, 2021 at the age of 97. Grace was born July 1, 1923 in Springfield, OH to Thomas and Mary Karshner. She was a graduate of St Ursula Academy and Mary Manse College of Toledo. After graduation from college, she married James J. Sattler on November 29, 1947 and together they raised six children in their Catholic faith. Grace was a lifelong volunteer. She devoted her time to St Ursula Academy Parent and Alumni Organizations, where she was named an Associate of the Ursuline Sisters for her efforts. She also served as a Eucharistic minister and active volunteer at Gesu Parish. In later years, Grace volunteered her time and talents to Heartbeat of Toledo. In addition to membership in St Ursula Alumni Association, she was a member of Fireside Players, and most recently Little Flower Parish. Grace is preceded in death by her husband, James J Sattler, her daughter, Carol Sattler , and her great-grandson, Graeson Sattler. Left to cherish her memory are her children James (Kathy) Sattler ,Toledo, John (Becky Foust)Sattler, S.Lake Tahoe, CA, Marcia (Mark) Richard, Maumee, Mary (Rhett) Miller, Kettering, OH and Tom(Julie)Sattler, Austin, TX; her 13 grandchildren Matthew (Melissa) Sattler, Lakewood, OH, Adam Sattler(Stephen Owczarzak), Toledo, Maemee Sattler, Toledo, Michele (Nick)Barclay, S. Lake Tahoe, CA, Emily (Mark) Yavorsky, Perrysburg, Jillian (Blake)Madden, Columbus, OH, Peter Richard, Maumee, Jeffrey Miller, Kettering, Theresa (Josh) Davis, Dayton, Bradley Miller, Cincinnati, Lindsay Sattler, Austin, TX, Timothy Sattler, Austin, TX, and Abigail Sattler, Austin, TX; and her great-grandchildren, James, Stella and Norah Sattler, Caleb, Paul and Raegan Yavorsky and Nora Barclay. The family would like to thank Sharon Belisle for her cherished friendship, and Kathy and Rowena from Visiting Angels, Kris Elgamel, and Shelley Kontak for their loving care in Grace's final days. A private funeral Mass and Interment will be held for family. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date when we can safely celebrate our mother's life with friends and family. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials take the form of contributions to Heartbeat of Toledo, or the Ursuline Sisters Retirement Fund.
