Jacob Nicholas Ransom

Jacob Nicholas Ransom, 29, passed away on December 31, 2025. He was born to Debra (Ransom-Grindle) Thanasiu and Christopher Ransom on February 22, 1996. Jacob graduated from Saint John Jesuit High School. He continued his education to become a Journeyman for the Pipefitters Local 50 union. He worked as a pipe fitter and was known as an incredibly hard worker and moved up to be the Lead Superintendent at Lima Refinery for Graham Industrial Services. He had many friends and was known as a very charismatic person. Many knew him as the "Gentle Giant" or "Big Sexy" or most just called him "Ransom". Jacob had a passion for golf and skiing and went on many trips with friends and created so many wonderful memories. He had an upcoming trip planned to go to Tahoe which I am sure he is sad to miss. Jacob also loved playing sports growing up and was on Our Lady Of Perpetual Help CYO Basketball team, and continued to play with this same team into his adult years during Thanksgiving tournaments. He was also a devoted lacrosse player in High School. Jacob had a bright future as so many people expressed what a wonderful caring person he was. He had the biggest heart and was always willing to help anyone that needed it. Jacob struggled with alcohol over the years and through rehab he was able to help many younger people and made a wonderful family of friends that helped to support him. His family is thankful to Midwest Rehab Facility for their support and help over the years. He is survived by his loving and devoted mother, Debra Thanasiu, Toledo, Ohio; his siblings, Nicholas Thanasiu, Nancy Ransom and Abby Thanasiu, and his grandfather Albert Grindle; his fiance, Claire Denecker, whom he loved with all his heart; Stepfather, Kim Thanasiu, Toledo, Ohio. Jacob had many loving Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins, those including Uncle Bill & Aunt Laura Grindle, with cousins Petra and Ella Grindle, as well as Aunt Jenny & Uncle Joel Maguire, with cousins Mitchell and Macey Maguire. He also grew up with his loving cousin Hailey Thanasiu. Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd. on Monday, January 12 from 3:00 -7:00 p.m. A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00. The Funeral Mass will held on Tuesday, January 13 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.
