Jackie Sutter

Jacqueline Danford Sutter, 95, passed away peaceably in the early morning hours of Feb 4, 2025 at the Lakes of Monclova. "Jackie" was born on January 2, 1930 to Mintia and John Danford. She was the eldest of four sisters including Barbara (Harry) Tolles, Mary Ellen (Bob) Kaye, and Mintia Gingrich, all of whom have passed. Jackie was married to James Nicholas Sutter for over 50 years and "Jim" died in 2005. Jackie grew up in the Old South End and was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish and graduated high school at St. Ursula Academy in 1947. Jackie and Jim were married in 1951 and were the parents of Janice (Dan) Smith, Steve (Gayle) Sutter, Tim (Teresa) Sutter, Mark (Jan) Sutter, Colleen Beranek (deceased), Laura (Rich) Guenin, Pam (Bob) West, and Marie Sutter. Jackie was blessed with 23 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Jackie worked at the Anderson's General Store in Maumee for many years and retired as the Cashier Supervisor. She loved spending time at the family cottage in Clark Lake, MI. She and Jim actually bought the log cabin next door and lived there for many years. Jackie enjoyed fishing, going to the casino, and playing cards with her extended family. She also taught her grandchildren and great-grandchildren how to play Nickel Knock, Kings in the Corner, Poker, and any other game that required a deck of cards. Jackie's greatest pleasure was spending time with her entire family and she was most comfortable at a family gathering with a baby on her lap. Given her experience, any fussy baby could be coddled, patted, and loved until they were fast asleep. She will surely be missed at any future gatherings, but her legacy lives on, as does her poems, family recipes, and rules for card games that were written and handed down to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd. on Monday, February 10, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. with a Rosary service at 6:30 p.m. The funeral will begin at Coyle at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 11, with Mass celebrated at 10:00 at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Church.
