Jeanne Frances Carroll

Carroll Jeanne Frances Jeanne Frances Hollowed Carroll, born July 20,1921, widow of Thomas T. Carroll, MD., died on the evening of Thursday, February 14, 2013 in the care of Hospice of NW Ohio at Sunset House surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was the second of four daughters born to John Francis Hollowed and Theresa Mary Magrady in Oak Park, Illinois. Following graduation from Mundelein College (now Loyola University) in Chicago, in June, 1945 she married and took up residence first in Rochester, MInnesota, where her husband had a Fellowship in General Surgery at Mayo Foundation and Mayo Clinic, then settled in her husband's hometown of Toledo to raise a family of eleven children. She lived in the Old West End and Sylvania, then at Portage Lake in Manistee, Michigan where her family had summered during her childhood. She was devoted to family and the complexity of raising many children during times of great social, political and economic change. Through all, she was sustained by faith and love. Jeanne is survived by her sister Patricia Anne Hollowed Hollingsworth, sisters-in-law Mary Pat Moor and Jackie Carroll; sons, John (Maria) of Mulino, OR, Matthew (Margaret) Seattle, WA, Brian (Marcia), Portland, OR, Peter (Connie) Kalamazoo, MI, Kevin Carroll, Sylvania; daughters, Marjorie Berg, Denver, CO, Katheen Carroll White (Carl), Toledo, Colleen (Edward) Alexander, Temperance, MI, Mary Carroll, Toledo, and Sheila (Stephan) Perry of Cincinnati. Grandchildren number twenty-one and include Steven (Shaune) Berg, Jennifer (Thomas) Dale, Ryan (Cara) Berg, Adam and Jonathon Zapiecki, Andrew (Angela) and Nicholas Carroll, Katherine Rose Carroll, Bryton and Alexander Zuelke, Brendan, Molly and Sean Carroll, Bridgitte, Hanna and Patrick Carroll, Kelly Dermyer (Brandon) Cornett, Trevor Dermyer, Madeline, Caroline and Braden Perry and great grandchildren, Aidan, Myles, and Patrick Berg, Finnegan and Lucy Dale, Colin and Soren Berg, Colby, Lexie and Lola Carroll. Children are her legacy. Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Thomas, son, Roger, and sisters, Mary Hollowed Mackin, Margaret Hollowed Parisot. Reynolds Road, Friday, February 22 from 3-8 p.m. where a Scripture Service will be recited at 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 23 at Corpus Christi University Parish, 2955 Dorr Street, Toledo.
