Jennifer Copley

Jennifer Kathleen Copley (52) of Maumee, Ohio passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones on April 4th, 2025, after a yearlong battle with cancer. Jen was born in Toledo, Ohio on February 24, 1973, to Joan Versey and Norman Robie. She married the love of her life Robert Copley on January 21st, 1995. Bob and Jen just recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary and together they raised 4 beautiful children, Breann, Adrienn, Megann, and Jacob. She would always say that her children were her pride and joy. They were her purpose! Growing up, Jen loved her sports, but her first love was basketball. She played for Whitmer and Central High School. Jen received a scholarship to play Softball for Defiance College. She then decided to try out for the Defiance Basketball team as a walk-on and eventually became a starter. The following year, Jen received offers to play basketball for West Virgina Wesleyan and Owens College. Jen stayed close to home and played for Owens. She loved to watch, play and coach basketball and her love for The University of Michigan was unwavering. Jennifer was a fierce competitor. Whether it was tennis, board games, CrossFit, pickleball or even fighting cancer, Jen was always competing to win. One word that describes Jennifer is WARRIOR. Jen loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed many fun vacations with her family and girlfriends. Hilton Head, Rhinelander, Irish Hills and Florida. Jen knew how to light up a room with her contagious smile and laughter. Her loyalty, compassion, and love for others was evident in how she lived her life. The bravery and strength Jen had throughout her years was an amazing trait of hers and she will forever be missed. This is not a goodbye, but a "see ya when I see ya!" She is survived by her husband, Robert; her 4 children; Breann, Adrienn, Megann, Jacob; her siblings, Robin Robie-Zdybek and Greg Robie; and so many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was proceeded in death by her mother, Joan Versey; her father, Norman Robie; and her brother, John Robie. A visitation will be held on Friday, May 2nd from 2-7 p.m. at Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd., Toledo, OH 43614. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday May 3rd at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church of Maumee, 104 W. Broadway St., Maumee, OH 43537. A Celebration of Life will take place after the Church Service. Contributions can be made to the Jennifer Versey Copley Scholarship in her loving memory.
