Jerry T Nemet

Jerry was born on June 11, 1938, to parents Sara Lee and James Todd Clevenger. After his mother died of tuberculosis and his father enlisted and fought in WWII, Jerry was raised in Toledo by his grandmother, Bessie Lee Parker and her husband John Nemeth, who adopted Jerry. He became Jerry T. Nemet. Jerry attended McKinley Elementary, Macomber-Whitney, and graduated from DeVilbiss High School in 1956. Jerry had many jobs growing up: Toledo Blade paper boy, soda jerk, and salesman at Sears Roebuck at Westgate. He graduated from Toledo University in 1962 where he joined Theta Chi fraternity. Jerry then began his career in Toledo Public Schools over 30-plus years as a teacher and school counselor at Spring Elementary, Macomber-Whitney, and Rogers High School, as well as principal of Toledo Night School. He had degrees in Education, Master's degree from Bowling Green State University, and Specialist from University of Toledo. Jerry was a fan of University of Toledo sports, having season tickets of both Rocket football and basketball. Jerry married Judy Jacob Myers in 1973, during a ceremony in best friend Tom and Sandy Pfahlert's garden. Jerry traveled with Judy to many countries in Europe and also within the United States. They enjoyed many sunsets together while wintering in Florida. Although he was left-handed, he played with right-handed clubs given to him in high school. He was able to achieve 3 holes-in-one at the golf clubs at South Toledo and Stone Oak, where he lived for twenty years. Surviving are his son Todd W. Nemet, daughter Sara Nemet Hoffman, and step-son Matthew J. (Wendy) Myers, grandchildren Stephanie and Matthew S. Nemet, J.T. Hoffman, Ashley, Jacob, and Madelyn Myers. The family thanks Maumee Pointe Assisted Living in Maumee, Ohio for making a comfortable new home for Jerry and Judy. The nurses were wonderful and enjoyed Jerry's sense of humor, as did many friends. Visitation will be held Monday, December 1st, 2025, from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at Coyle Funeral Home on 1770 S. Reynolds Rd., Toledo, Ohio. The Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, December 2nd, 2025 at 10:00am. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery.
