Joan Mary McCune

Joan Mary McCune, age 94, passed into Eternal Life on Friday, October 21, 2022 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. She was companioned on her way by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Joan was born in Toledo, Ohio to Polish immigrants, Nicholas and Mary Charles (Chwialkowski), on March 31, 1928. She grew up on a 90 acre farm in Ottawa Lake, Michigan and attended a one room schoolhouse. Joan graduated from Lambertville High School in 1946. She and her husband, John McCune, were founding members of Christ the King Church, which first held Masses at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Secor Road in Toledo, before Christ the King School was built and doubled as the church on weekends. Joan's life was centered around her children, her Catholic faith, her home, and her garden. Family was everything to Joan and she had the great gift of gathering everyone together around her table. Joan was predeceased by her parents, her husband John, her eldest son John Jr., and her siblings Theodore (Harriet) Charles, Stephen Charles, John Charles, Helen (Ted) Olszewski, Frank Charles; her niece Sr Rita Mary Olszewski; and her sons-in-law Martin Maciejewski, Patrick McManamon, and Joseph Peters. She will be dearly missed by her children Mary McManamon, Ann Maciejewski, Charles (Julie) McCune, and Iris McCune; grandchildren Rachel Peters, James Kataniak, Jennifer Tresso, Zak (Joann) McCune, Kendall (Patrick Nelson), Kate McCune, Lauren McCune, and great grandchildren Logan Tresso, Isabella Peters, Joey Peters, Josh Peters, Lucy Morrison, Charles Mac Nelson, and Milie Nelson. She is also survived by extended family members Deb Wernert and Kristy LaRose. The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 28 at 10:30 a.m., with an hour of visitation beginning at 9:30 at Christ the King Church. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery.
