Keller K. Pollock

Keller K. Pollock, age forty, died peacefully from lung cancer on Saturday, October 30, 2010 in the company of family at the University of Toledo Medical Center Hospital. Keller was born in Toledo, graduated from Bowsher High School in 1988 and from Smith College in Northhampton, MA in 1992. She was elected social chair of her dormitory at Smith College and majored in Sociology. Keller traveled extensively, and made friends wherever she went. After graduating from college, Keller worked as Head of Payroll in the Accounting Department for Hvide Marine, Inc., Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Her most recent position was as Senior Manager of Human Resources at Gene Express, Inc. in Toledo, OH. At Gene Express, Keller was highly respected by colleagues and supervisors. According to former colleague Brad Austermiller “Keller was the constant in the office. She would help out with anything you asked. She always had a positive attitude and a smile on her face. Keller also was a friend and we enjoyed sharing dinners at each other's houses. Though her life was too short, she touched many lives. Heaven got a good one, but she will be sorely missed on earth.” The death of Keller’s mother of cancer at a young age sparked considerable interest in healthy living and alternative medicine. A lifelong non-smoker, she focused on physical fitness. She was a licensed masseuse and in 2004 was manager of Macy’s Ecotage Salon and Spa in Atlanta, GA. Keller also was interested in acupuncture medicine, and at the time of her diagnosis was enrolled in the New England School of Acupuncture in Newton, MA. She also cared deeply for animal welfare and protection of animals from abuse or neglect. Her cats Nikita and Bebe were direct beneficiaries. Keller was pre-deceased by her mother, Margery Willey Marshall of Toledo, OH, Grandfather John D. Willey of Toledo OH, and Grandmother Amelia Elizabeth Pollock of Wayzata. MN. She is survived by her grandmother Marilynn Willey, Toledo, OH., father Alfred (Helen) Pollock and grandfather S. Keller Pollock, Anna Maria Island, Florida, brothers Luke (Julie) Pollock of Buffalo, NY., Matthew (Mindi) Marshall of Toledo, OH, Charles (Chandra) Pollock of Aurora, CO, stepbrothers David (Cheryl) Ross, Centennial, CO, Peter Ross, Atlanta, GA, stepsister Tiffany (Justin) Brown, Oklahoma City, OK, Uncles John D. Willey of Cavendish, VT., James (Elisabeth) Willey and David Willey of Toledo, OH, Peter Willey of Plymouth, MI, Aunt Mary Scott of Portland, OR, cousins John and Antoinette Willey of Cavendish, VT, Marilynn, Paige and John Mark Willey of Toledo, OH, Peyton and James Willey of Plymouth, MI, Ethan and Isabelle Willey of Perrysburg, OH, Jessie Scott of Nevada City, CA, and Cam Scott of Basalt, CO, nieces Brooke and Lola Pollock of Buffalo, NY, Alexis and Ella Ross, Centennial, CO, and nephews Charles Pollock of Buffalo, NY and Miller Marshall of Toledo, OH. A memorial service will be held at Park Church, 2456 Harvard Boulevard, at 11 AM on Saturday, November 6, 2010, Toledo, OH, Rev. Ed Heilman officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The George Isaac Cancer Research Fund at the University of Toledo or the Toledo Area Humane Society.
