Kevin Scott French

Kevin S. French, age 63, passed away Monday November 21st at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He was a lifelong resident of Toledo and graduated from Rogers High School. Kevin overcame many obstacles and challenges during his life but always persevered. He wanted to follow in the path of his dad, a veteran of WWII, so he worked especially hard to qualify for military service. Kevin was a veteran of the US Navy and served aboard the USS Roanoke. His duty encompassed sailing across the expanse of the Pacific Ocean stretching from Australia, the Aleutian Islands, Japan and the Persian Gulf. Following honorable discharge from active duty, he completed his service obligation as a reservist with the Toledo unit. Kevin shared a deep love of animals as did his mom….especially dogs. He was an eager participant in the Agility Angels program coaching dogs through various agility challenges. He had many favorite dogs including Figy, Never and Angel. His smile and enthusiasm are missed by Patty, Kim and Sue. He was one of the first adults to join the program through the Ability Center. Kevin served as a volunteer for the Toledo Humane Society and as an educator at the Toledo Zoo. He loved to teach visitors about numerous animals, especially polar bears. Kevin was an avid reader of books. He was quite knowledgeable of animals and history. Kevin was a kind person. He loved to smile and laugh sometimes at himself. He was not too proud to wear his prized polar bear hat into restaurants. He liked the silliness of it. Kevin was loved by so many. As his neurological disorder progressed, he still maintained his sense of warmth and humor. He retained his curiosity in others and current events. Kevin is preceded in death by his parents, Scott and Lucille French and will be deeply missed by his sisters, Diana French, and Luana Emline (David); dear friends, Robin Beringer, Janice Wittman, Val Dray and Greg Porter; his cousins and Aunt Mary. Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home at 1770 S. Reynolds Rd. on Tuesday November 29th from 4:00-7:00 pm. Funeral Services will be Wednesday November 30th at 10:00 am at the mortuary with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens. Memorials may take the form of contributions to Hospice of Northwest Ohio and Agility Angels at 5605 Monroe St. Sylvania, OH 43560. Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks…"
