Marie C. Kerscher

Marie C. Kerscher, age 94, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2012 at the Lutheran Village at Wolf Creek. She was born November 7, 1918 to Bernard F. Kramer and Dorothea T. Helmkamp. She was a 1936 graduate of Ft. Jennings High School and then attended business school in Toledo for one year. She was an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church for over 60 years and involved in the Rosary Altar Society. She was a member of the Mercy Guild and volunteered in the Mercy Hospital gift shop for many years and was also a precinct worker for the Lucas County Board of Elections. Marie married Francis X. Kerscher on May 10, 1941. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who never worked outside the home until her family was raised. She then worked at Tiger Products for 8 years as a part-time office worker. Marie was an excellent cook and her hobbies included crossword puzzles, sewing and needlework. Her favorite activity was making special Christmas ornaments for her grandchildren each year. She also enjoyed spending time at the family cottage. Her husband of 70 years, Francis X.; her brother, Arthur F. Kramer; and her great-granddaughter, Caroline K Keneally preceded Marie in death. She leaves behind four sons, John (Cathy), Daniel (Margo), Kenneth (Marie), and Michael (Sue) Kerscher; thirteen grandchildren, the Honorable Kristina (Ben) Keneally, Kevin (Gwynne) Kerscher, Kelly (Adam) Yost, Patrick (Stephanie) Kerscher, Christopher (Jeny) Kerscher, Katie (Tim) Watson, Dr. Kara (Carlton) Prickett, Steven Fehr, David Kerscher, Jeff Kerscher, Craig Kerscher, Kristen (Jason) Bright, and Mark Kerscher; and thirteen great-grandchildren. Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd., on Wednesday from 3-8 pm. where a scripture service will be held at 7 pm. Funeral services will be held on Thursday beginning at 9:15 am in the mortuary followed by the funeral mass at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church at 10 am. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery. The family would to thank the staff at the Lutheran Village at Wolf Creek and St. Luke’s Hospital for their wonderful care. Memorials may take the form of contributions to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church or Lutheran Village at Wolf Creek Assisted Living.
