Marilyn J Cassin

Marilyn J. Cassin, age 85 of Toledo, Ohio passed away peacefully on September 23, 2014, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. She was born on October 25, 1928, in Toledo, Ohio to Stanley and Mildred Prentiss. Marilyn graduated from DeVilbiss High School in 1946. She was a life-long Toledoan and married Charles Cassin on November 17, 1956. She worked for many years in the banking business and retired from United Home Federal as an executive secretary in 1989. Family and faith were the foundation of Marilyn’s life. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish and was devout in her prayer life. She treasured the moments spent with her children and grandchildren. In her retirement, she and her husband enjoyed collecting and selling antiques. Marilyn was a huge baseball fan for many years, going back to the days of Swain Field where she attended games with her father. She was a devoted Detroit Tiger fan and enjoyed watching and discussing the games with her sister, her son and her grandsons. Marilyn is survived by her children, Mary Miller (Mark), Mark Cassin (Cheryl) and Terri Zmuda (Gene), sister Jean Provonsha (Bill), brother-in-law Dennis Cassin (Dolores), nephew Tom McClure (Lynn) and niece Joyce Frey (Bill). She was a loving grandmother to her grandchildren, Jessi Larson (Carl), Brian Miller (Kristin), Catie, Erin and Shane Cassin, and Eric and Matthew Zmuda. She was the proud great-grandmother of Jack Larson. She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband of 54 years Charles Cassin. Family and friends may visit Sunday, September 28, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd. The funeral will begin at the mortuary on Monday, September 29 at 9:30 a.m., followed by the funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, at Sherwood and the Anthony Wayne Trail. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. The family would like to thank the staff of West Park Place, Dr. Ameer Kabour and Marje of Toledo Cardiology for their exceptional care, the nursing staff of the Toledo Hospital MICU and the loving and compassionate staff of Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
