Marjorie Cowell

Marjorie Ann "Midge" Cowell, 101, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday morning, August 24th, 2022. Midge was preceded in death by her first husband Richard Armstrong, second husband, Norman Cowell, her sister, Ellen Malone, twin sons, Greg and Gary Armstrong, and son-in-law, Terry Kwiatkowski. She is survived by her son Geoff (Kathleen) Armstrong, daughter, Tina Duran, step-daughter, Mary Barbara Tarschis, sisters Madeline Casper, Marilyn Wright, and Bonnie Frey, grandchildren Kyle Newnham, Jordon Swartz, Shannon Flowers, Kelly Armstrong, Ashley Tarschis, and Rachel Mischley, all her great grandchildren, and many special family members and friends. After being educated at St. Ursula Academy and Mary Manse College, Midge worked and volunteered in many roles in the community over her long life, including for DeVilbiss Company, Stephen Ministry, Gesu Church, Girl Scouts of America, Conlon Center and Catholic Charities. Additionally, she was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving as an officer during WWII. Anyone that spent time with Midge during the century she lived, knew that she was a ray of light in this world. She touched anyone she met with her kindness, her strong faith and her humor. Midge's lighthearted easygoing nature made her a joy to have around in any setting. She spent much of her time, for most of her life, helping the less fortunate, whether volunteering as a eucharistic minister, driving for the blind, working as a social worker, or giving back to the church. She also loved spending time with her family and friends, playing cards, listening to music, taking boat rides at the lake, attending church services, and telling stories from her many life experiences. Midge was caring, funny, forgiving, generous and committed to her Catholic faith. She will be missed immensely by all those who knew her. Friends may visit at the COYLE FUNERAL HOME, 1770 S Reynolds Rd, Toledo, OH on Sunday, August 28th, 2022 from 1:00 pm until 6:00 pm., where the scripture service will be held at 5:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will held on Monday August 29th at Gesu Church, 2049 Parkside Blvd, Toledo, OH at 10:00 am In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Gesu Church, Helping Hands of St. Louis or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
