Marjorie F. McKenzie

Marjorie “Marge” McKenzie, age 92 of Toledo, Ohio, passed away Wednesday March 25, 2015 at her home at Lutheran Village of Wolf Creek. She was born in Stoystown, PA on February 28, 1923, to Matthew and Catherine (Borkowski) Flack. Marge made her way to Toledo, Ohio where she worked as a Rosie-the-Riveter during World War II and where she met her husband, William “Bill” McKenzie. She was also a hand model, a telephone operator and worked at a craft manufacturer. After raising her three children Marge went on to be employed at Kmart where she was notorious for her “green thumb”. She was extremely talented at crocheting and put the skill to good use in making sweaters, hats, and booties for the Intensive Care Nursery in the Mercy Hospital Partners System. Marge had many passions in life, one of the most important was her family. A loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Marge will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Marge is survived by her son, Donald (Nancy) McKenzie, and daughters, Pat (Joe) Brooks, and Sharon (John) Frederick; grandchildren, Kim McKenzie, Amy (Brett) Robbins, Stacy Hyde, Brett Lowe and Nicholas Goodrich; 8 great grandchildren (Andrea and Brittany, Brianna, Sydney, and Layla, David, Jordan, and Skyler); and 1 great- great grandson (Jaiden); one niece, Patty Jean Kaufman and three nephews Phil (Kim) Mendel, David Mendel, and Joe (Robyn) Mendel. In addition to her parents, Marge was preceded in death by her husband, William, grandson Brint William Lowe, and her sisters, Jean Kaufman and Adeline Mendel. Family and friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd., on Saturday, March 28, 2015 from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 at Coyle. Interment will be at Toledo Memorial Park.
