Mary Theresa Frick

Mary (Rapp) Frick, born in Toledo, Ohio, on July 20, 1935, was recruited to work for the CIA (she said no), could whistle loud enough to send the entire neighborhood home for dinner, and was known to feed potato chips to deer as a treat. Those are just a few of the many glorious exploits in the 89 years of her life, which we celebrate after her peaceful passing on January 19, 2025, in Waterville, Ohio. The youngest of nine children born to Joseph and Eugenia Rapp, and lovingly bestowed the nickname "Baby," Mary was known to frequently blackmail her elder siblings for spare change in exchange for her silence about any misdeeds. She graduated from Woodward High School in 1953, where she was a proud, but - in her words - "not very good," clarinet player in the marching band. Upon graduation, she went to work at Champion Spark Plug. There, she met Don Frick, who she would later marry on November 16, 1957, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help. They loved hosting parties for their beloved family and friends, traveled all over the globe, went to the movies every week and could frequently be found sitting in the backyard watching the birds. They had five children: Michelle (John) Tilton, Scott (Diane) Frick, Cherie Frick, Todd (Meliss) Frick and Holly (Andrew) Price; five grandchildren: Kellie Tilton, Greg (Sarah) Tilton, Lauren Frick, Andrew Price and Josephine Price; and three great-grandchildren: Thomas, Leila and Franklin Tilton. She was preceded in death by her parents: Joseph and Eugenia; siblings: Alexander, Eugenia "Girlie", Eugene "Eudie", Johnny, Charlie, Adela, Joe, and Mary Anne; husband: Don; and son: Scott. Mary loved to share her love of nature with others. She was known to hunt up cicada shells with grandchildren, invite entire schools into the backyard when the family of owls moved into the big tree, and take everyone on walks through the ravine on nice days. She cared for every animal in the neighborhood, including the pet dogs, cats, and birds she had throughout her life. Therefore, if you would like to honor Mary's life, her family encourages donations be made to the Toledo Area Humane Society or an organization of your choice. The entire family also wishes to thank everyone at StoryPoint in Waterville who were so helpful in the final years of her life, as well as her husband Don's final years. You are the best! A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, February 1st at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 2255 Central Grove, Toledo, OH 43614, at 11:00 a.m. where the family will begin greeting guests at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be private.
