Michael Allen Ellinger

Michael Allen Ellinger, 54, of Toledo, Ohio peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was born on July 14, 1958 in Toledo, Ohio to Clarence Ellinger and Helen Sanna. Michael spent most of his young adulthood at Northwest Ohio Developmental Center and in 1980 came to live at Josina Lott Residential & Community Services. Michael lived at Josina Lott for over 30 years and developed many close friendships. During this time Michael met his close friend, Pattie Webster. The Webster family, Pattie, Butch, Chad, Melissa, Tyler, and Rachel Morris became Michael’s family. They enjoyed visiting with him weekly and on holidays. Michael always looked forward to this. Michael moved into Josina Lott’s Suported Living Program in 1999 where he gained the independence to successful live out in the community with his friends. He was a faithful member of New Hope United Methodist Church and enjoyed attending with his close friends, Sharon and Joanne. Michael was a hard worker and spent over 30 years working through Lott Industries. He had a variety of jobs, but met each one with dedication and a smile. Michael had a zest for life and embraced each day as if it were a holiday. He loved holidays and celebrated each one to its fullest. He was a loving person who made the world his family with his contagious smile and most impressively, his uncanny dance moves. He loved Superheroes and most undoubtedly, HE was one to all who met him. A warm thank you and a deep appreciation to the Webster family and to all the countless caregivers whom selfishly gave so much to Michael. In Pattie’s words “His love was unconditional and we are better family and friends because of a man named Michael”. A celebration of his life and spirit will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at New Hope United Methodist Church, 2025 Airport Hwy., Toledo, Ohio, with Pastor Arnold Betz presiding. In lieu of flowers, those wishing an expression of sympathy in Michael’s name are asked to consider Josina Lott Residential & Community Services.
