Patricia A. "Aunt Patty" Beidleman

Patricia A. Beidleman, age 69 of Toledo, passed away on September 16, 2012 after a long struggle with diabetes and renal failure. She was a graduate of St. Ursula Academy and attended St. Vincent School of Nursing to complete her education as an RN and subsequently went to Mary Manse College where she earned her BSN. Pat started her career at the St. Vincent Medical Center as a Staff Nurse in the E.R. She was recognized very early on as having tremendous leadership ability and was promoted to a Head Nurse position in the surgical unit and then advanced to a Directorship level to several departments within the hospital. She moved into Corporate Services for the hospital for several years where she was involved in advancing multiple new programs and services for the hospital. Her last working years were spent in management of physician outpatient practices. In an era where nurses were viewed as a helping hand to physicians, Pat’s professional competency and strong feeling of advocacy for her patients earned her the respect and the trust of physicians, which in turn, insured that her patient’s received needed care in a timely way. She was an avid reader and loved to travel especially to Ireland. Pat was a member of AA and proud of achieving 26 years of sobriety. Through the years she helped many people financially and emotionally without expecting recognition or reimbursement. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Phyllis Beidleman; grandparents; uncle, Jack Dowling and cousin, John P. Dowling and several Beidleman aunts, uncles and cousins. She is survived by her brother, Thomas (Leslie); aunts, Laura Dowling and Doris Dowling; nieces, Sarah Beidleman and Jenny (Dave) Surgeson; nephew, Michael (Juliette) Donovan; 5 great-nephews; best friend “sister”, Sharlotte (John) Turin as well as many cousins. Family and friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd., on Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. where a Scripture Service will be recited at 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday at the Historic Church of St. Patrick, 130 Avondale Ave., Toledo, OH 43604, at 10 a.m. where the family will begin receiving friends at 9:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Flower Hospital Emergency Department, ICU, Ebied Hospice and to the Innovative/Sylvania West Dialysis Centers for all their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Historic Church of St. Patrick.
