Patricia Sue Randolph

Patricia S. Randolph, age 84, of Toledo Ohio passed away on Saturday August 21,2010 in the Sunset House, surrounded by her loving family. Patricia was born in Detroit Michigan on May 18, 1926 to Leonard L. and Helen (Douglas) Healy. She attended the Academy of the Sacred Heart in Bloomfield Hills, MI and graduated from Manhattanville College in New York. She was married to her husband John, also from Detroit, until his death in 1990. They moved to Toledo in the early ‘60’s where they raised their six children. Throughout her life she was devoted to the underprivileged; particularly the young children. She was a founding member of the Toledo Head Start Program where she worked for 36 years. She went above and beyond hours of employment to secure donations, provide help to families in need and in many instances, initiated home visits to make sure parents were aware of these opportunities. She was a past member on the Board of Trustees of Friendly Center, an active member of the Sacred Heart Alumni Association in Toledo and volunteered for numerous other organizations. Pat’s love for family and friends and her Irish heritage were always apparent, particularly on St. Patrick’s Day. Her wit and quick responses often provided much laughter and entertaining moments. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s events and was extremely proud of all their accomplishments. Although presented with many health challenges her last few years, she never complained and always rallied back. Her summer trips to Port Huron, MI, Sacred Heart Alumni reunions, a trip to Ireland with her sisters Helen and Mil and a Caribbean cruise with them and daughter, Cindy have provided stories that will be cherished forever. A devout Catholic, she was a past parishioner at St. Patrick’s of Heatherdowns and Gesu Catholic Church. Patricia was preceded in death by her loving husband John Wilson Randolph, son Stephen Joseph Randolph, sister, Milmary Healy Mathews and brother Leonard L. (Larry) Healy Jr. She is survived by her children Christine (Dr. John) Carroll, Toledo, OH., John W. (Kathy) Randolph Jr., Virginia Beach, VA., Karen (Jerry) Karsten, Maumee, OH., Susan (William) Logie, Toledo, OH., Cynthia Randolph, Albuquerque, NM.; grandchildren, John, Patrick, Katie, Michael, Rebecca, John W III, Jim, Jodi, Jason, Jeremy, Megan and 6 great grandchildren; sister Helen Healy Moorhead, brother Timothy Healy, sister-in-law Mary Healy and many special nieces, nephews and friends. Her family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Sunset House whose gentle and caring ways gave them seven more years of memories. Special thanks also to Hospice of NW Ohio for their compassionate support these past few months. Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S Reynolds Rd on Thursday from 2-8 p.m. where the Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. The family will receive guest at Gesu Church 2049 Parkside Blvd, Toledo Ohio 43607, on Friday starting at 12:00 p.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m. The interment will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Detroit, MI., on Saturday August 28th.
