Peter Krull

Peter Krull, a gentle and quiet man, known for his kind, loving, and humorous personality, left us way too soon on March 4, 2026. Born on August 29, 1994, in Evanston, Illinois, Peter lived a life filled with a passion for learning and providing service towards others. Peter loved his years at St. Johns Academy and High School in Toledo. Those years provided him with the model of how to be a man for others, a value that was central to his character. He excelled at sports that involved some degree of controlled violence (wrestling & rugby), but the experiences he cherished most involved helping others. His mission trips to Guatemala and his volunteer activities in Toledo left him with an enormous capacity for kindness and empathy for others. Throughout his life, including his years at the University of Dayton, Peter had a thirst for knowledge that spanned so many subjects. He was always reading several books at a time covering everything from Russian literature to religious history. During family Jeopardy nights, Peter was our go-to guy for answers regarding Greek mythology or U.S. history. Whether it was sports, darts, pool, archery, trap shooting, axe throwing or shuffleboard, you never wanted to place a wager against Peter. He was skilled with a lariat and competed in rodeo team roping competitions, he soloed an airplane, he learned to restore antiques, he could build or repair almost anything around the house. Frankly, he was unassumingly good at almost anything he tried, and it was all pretty annoying to the rest of us. Peter had no interest in working in an office. He drove trucks for a living, and he could back a trailer into impossibly small spaces. His true passion, however, was the business he had recently started where he restored and sold antique knives and watches. He did amazing work, and he was quickly building a vibrant business. Most of all, Peter loved his family. He is survived by his parents, Beth and Steve Krull; and by his sisters, Kelsey (Lucas) Rhodenbaugh, and Emily (Kavon) Lackey. He is also survived by his nephew, George, and niece, Beatrice, who knew Peter as their fun Puncle. Peter is also survived by his grandmother, Nevonne Portegys, and by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends. He had a knack for making friends easily, and animals loved him. A visitation will be held at Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd., Toledo, OH, from 4:00 - 8:00 PM on Friday, April 10th. A funeral Mass will then be held on Saturday, April 11th at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 104 W. Broadway St., Maumee, OH with a visitation at the church beginning at 9:00 AM and the Mass commencing at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, 900 West Wayne St., Maumee, OH. A Luncheon/Reception will be held immediately following the Mass at the St. Joseph Ministry Center at the Wayne Allen Building, 204 W. Jack's amazing strength and steadfast faith in God as he battled brain cancer was an inspiration to Peter.
