Philip "Big Phil" Rodriguez

Philip "Big Phil" George Rodriguez, age 62 of Perrysburg, OH passed away peacefully on February 19, 2022 while surrounded by his family. He was born to George and Mary (Avalos) Rodriguez on September 20, 1959. He was a graduate of Woodward High School where he participated in numerous sports and the Chess Club. After High School, Phil pursued Body Building and entered many competitions. Phil held various jobs in carpentry but he spent his career working for the Toledo Refining Company (Sun Oil) for 27 years. He held many positions within the company and was classified as a Combined Craft Carpenter. He married his soulmate, Sharie Besancon on March 11, 1991 and together they raised 2 children. Phil was an avid Pool player, he participated in numerous Pool Leagues and tournaments over the years. Phil was a member of Harvest Apostolic Temple and VFW Post #2984. He was known for his jokes, especially the Three Stooges, devoted love of coffee (there was always a pot brewing), barbecues, famous brownies, pool parties, holidays with his family, his analytical mind and was a Diehard Pittsburg Steelers fan!!! In his free time, he enjoyed cigars, chocolate, cornhole, finding and collecting bargains from garage sales and Jellystone National Park. Phil was selfless and extremely family oriented and loved the weekends with his grandkids! He was always there to help family and friends whenever they needed it. Phil was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Sharie; daughter, Ashley Rodriguez; son, Philip G. Rodriguez II; grandchildren, Madison Rodriguez, twins Maxwell and Spencer Jones, Elliana Rodriguez; siblings, Marie (Tom) Michalak, Joseph Rodriguez, Loretta Poskarbiewicz, twins Marie Glass and Georgette Flores, Anthony Rodriguez, Andria Clemons, Rebecca (Ramon) Garcia, Stephanie Williams and George (Chrissy) Rodriguez; brother-in-law and right hand man, Willie (Barbie). Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd., on Friday, February 25th from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may take the form of contributions to the Harvest Apostolic Temple, VFW Post #2984 or to the Rodriguez family.
