Randy Kimmet

Randall "Randy" Joseph Kimmet, 68, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home on July 14, 2026. Randy was born on January 5, 1958, in Delphos, Ohio, to Arnold Kimmet, who preceded him in death, and Jane (Becker) Kimmet, who survives. Above all else, Randy was a loving husband, father, grandfather ("Papa"), son, brother, and friend whose kindness, humor, and unwavering love for his family will be remembered always. He spent many years as a conductor with Amtrak, where he took great pride in his work and loved telling stories about the people he met along the way. Long before that, Randy was an accomplished competitive sailor whose love of adventure stayed with him throughout his life. He loved the outdoors and found his greatest happiness traveling, hiking, biking, spending time at the lake, and boating-especially at Bird Lake, affectionately known by the family as "There's no fish in this lake." A devoted Cincinnati Reds fan, he rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his team. Randy was a man of few words, but when he spoke, it was almost always to offer quiet encouragement, share a story, or deliver one of his signature dad jokes. Calm, patient, and steady, he was the rock of his family-the one everyone could always count on. He led by example through the way he showed up for the people he loved, whether coaching his kids' teams, tackling another home project alongside Paula, or simply being there when his family needed him most. From relaxing hikes to trying to get three girls out the door with his famous line, "Five minutes," Randy had a way of making everyone around him feel welcome, safe, and deeply loved. He is survived by his devoted wife of 41 years, Paula (Goodnough) Kimmet; his mother, Jane (Becker) Kimmet; his son, Philip Kimmet (Audra); his daughters, Jessica Pettit (Jeff), Emma Kimmet fiancé Seth Carlson, and Jaclyn Lonsway (Billy); his six beloved grandchildren, Braeden Pettit, William Kimmet, Ana Pettit, Ellie Kimmet, Colton Kimmet, and Bronson Lonsway; his sister, Nancy Kimmet; his brother, Jeff Kimmet (Mary); and many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his father, Arnold Kimmet; his brother, Terry Kimmet; and his daughter, Michelle Kimmet. Randy's legacy lives on in the adventures he embraced and the deep love he had for his family. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered. Friends & family may visit from 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Monday July 20th, 2026 at Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S Reynolds Rd, Toledo, OH 43614 where a Scripture Service will begin at 6:00 p.m. Additional visitation will begin at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Parish, 5856 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo, OH 43614 on Tuesday, July 21 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow.
