Richard Rowinski

Richard Michael Rowinski Sr. passed away at the age of 76 on August 26, 2025, in Toledo, Ohio. Richard was born in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany, while his family was living in a displaced person's camp following World War II. He was baptized on June 26, 1949, under the name Riszard. Shortly after, as an infant, he immigrated to the United States with his parents and siblings, where the family began a new life together. As the youngest of six children, he was affectionately known as "Baby Richie." His sisters doted on him, often declaring his perfection and insisting he could do no wrong. Perhaps it is through their great care he grew to be the kind, loving, gentle man that graced the title of husband, father, grandfather, and "Godpa the Great". Family was Richards greatest joy in this life. His love and dedication to family knew no bounds. He graciously shared that love not only in word but through countless acts of generosity and kindness. He was deeply proud of his children and grandchildren finding great joy in sharing his favorite videos, stories and sense of humor with them. Rich never allowed life's challenges to silence his laughter; instead, he transformed them into moments of joy, using humor to lift the hearts of those around him. He was well known for his quick-witted, often quirky sense of humor combined with more than a healthy dose of sarcasm. His smile and laughter were infectious, filling the air with warmth and joy. Their absence will be felt deeply and missed beyond measure. As a proud Army veteran who served in Vietnam, Richard brought the same dedication and resilience to his long career as a Field Service Engineer with Digital, Compaq, and HP before retiring in 2005 Richard was preceded in death by his loving wife of more than 27 years, Kathy L. (Grice)Rowinski, his siblings Leokadia (Rowinski) Obresky, Irene (Rowinski) Pozniak, and granddaughters Katerina Quintero and Evalyn Quintero. He is survived by his children: Stacey(Stombaugh) Cattani (Anthony), Thomas Stombaugh (Kelly), Jonathan Stombaugh, Alicia Rowinski, and Richard Michael Rowinski Jr. (Sara); his grandchildren: Mikel, Victoria, Daniel, Elizabeth, Kealani, Alex, Zareya, Christian, Angel, Gabriel, Vivian, Lorenzo, Genevieve, Nataniel, Isaac, Karmelo, and Trey; and his great-grandchildren: Quinn, Erich, Kazimir, Russell, Aria, and Athena Faye. He is also survived by his loving siblings, Barbara, Alicja, and Stanley and many beloved nieces and nephews. He will be remembered for his wit, his warmth, and the unwavering love he had for his family. His legacy lives on in the laughter he inspired and the lives he touched. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 5, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Coyle Funeral Home on Reynolds Road in Toledo, Ohio, followed by a memorial service. A procession to Toledo Memorial Park will take place immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his honor to: Tunnels to Towers Foundation providing mortgage free housing to displace and disabled veterans and first responders.
