Rita Rose Cark

Rita Roth Cark passed away peacefully at the Elizabeth Scott Community on August 31, 2023 at age 92. In a life spent in service to others, she dedicated herself most to being a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister. Rita was born in Toledo to Andrew and Mary Roth. She attended St. Agnes School and graduated in Central Catholic High School's Class of 1949. Following her graduation, she worked in the Accounting Department at Ohio Bell for six years. Rita was married to John J. Cark for 58 years until his death in 2010. She and John had three children, and she was busy being the world's best mom to them for the next three decades. After her children were largely raised, she was employed as the Auxiliary Services Clerk at St. Ursula Academy for 17 years and as a notary public. Even in her retirement, she stayed busy for more than two decades as a dedicated volunteer at Our Lady of Perpetual Help School, and at the University of Toledo Medical Center, where she was the Treasurer of their volunteer organization, the Satellites Auxiliary. Rita was a long-time member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, where she served on the Finance Committee, and was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the choir for many years. She was a founding member of St. Jude's Parish and a member of St. Patrick of Heatherdowns for 19 years, and spent many hours volunteering for those parishes as well as the Ursuline Sisters. Rita's final years were spent living at the Elizabeth Scott Community in Maumee, where she enjoyed an active social life. Her family wishes to thank the staff at the Elizabeth Scott Community for their endless kindnesses and care. Surviving are her sons T.J. (Karen) Cark of Hillsdale, MI and John P. (Lynn) Cark of Toledo, and daughter Regina (Greg) Bennett of Highlands Ranch, CO; four grandsons, Kevin (Erica), Steven (Amy), Matthew (Audrey) and Eric Cark; and two step-grandchildren, Thomas Terry and Jennifer Terry. She welcomed great granddaughter Mckenzie in July 2020 along with great grandchildren Kendra, Joseph, Tyler and Preston. Also surviving are her brothers Edward (Barb) Roth, James (Marilyn) Roth and Richard (Sonny) Roth. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her brother, Thomas Roth. Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S Reynolds Rd on Wednesday September 6, 2023 from 3-7 p.m. where the Scripture Service will be held at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will begin in the mortuary on Thursday Sept. 7th starting at 10:30 am followed by the Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Interment services will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
