Sharon Jane Myers Ahrens

Sharon (Myers) Ahrens May 26, 1931 - August 12, 2025 Sharon Ahrens, 94, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025. Born in Kenosha, Wisconsin to Dorothy (Smith) and Joseph Myers, Sharon lived a life full of adventure, faith, and love. She attended St. George School and graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School in 1949, later continuing her studies at the University of Wisconsin extension. Sharon began her career as a kindergarten assistant before joining American Airlines as a stewardess during the golden years of air travel, proudly serving on American Airlines' first flight crew to San Diego. While working for the airline and based in Chicago, she met Donald Ahrens (d. 1998) of Chicago. They married in 1955 and raised four children. Sharon and Don moved across the country for Don's work, before settling in the Toledo area in 1968. After raising her four children, Sharon embarked on a successful career in retail, spending many years at Jacobson's. She had an appreciation for style and an eye for color, along with a talent for meeting and helping customers. Sharon cherished growing up on the shores of Lake Michigan, and always enjoyed fishing, sailing, and the presence of water. It's no surprise, then, that after moving to the Toledo area, Sharon and Don immediately gravitated toward a home and lifestyle central to the Maumee River. They were avid sailors, often seen at Maumee River Yacht Club regattas, or cruising the river in their 1969 Boston Whaler. In retirement, Sharon volunteered at UTMC, the Museum, and was active in the Serra Club. Her Catholic faith was central to her life, and she remained a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. She was especially proud of her eight grandchildren whose travels and accomplishments brought her great pride. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents and husband, and is survived by her children and grandchildren, Bill, JoDee (children Michael and Alex), Chris (wife Robin; children Riley, Lindsay, Isabella, and Donald), and Don (wife Theresa; children Kaitlan and Jessica). A Catholic Mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help on September 2, 2025, at 10:00a.m., followed by burial at St. George's Cemetery in Kenosha, Wisconsin on October 11, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help or Northwest Ohio Hospice.
