Mary C. Kanary-Albregt

Mary Catherine Kanary-Albregt, age 89 passed away peacefully at her daughter and son-in-law’s home, listening to Irish music surrounded by her loving family on May7, 2012. Mary K was born on March 12th, 1923, in Toledo, Ohio to Leo and Rosemary McKeown. Mary graduated from St. Ursula Academy in 1941. She attended the former Mary Manse College. She was awarded the Alumnae of the Year award for St. Ursula Academy. Mary married her childhood sweetheart, Barney Kanary in 1945 at Rosary Cathedral. They were married for 52 beautiful years. During those 52 years they shared many great times raising their 10 devoted children. Many good times were had by family and their numerous friends, especially at their St. Patrick’s Day parties. Fourteen years later she met Hendicus Albregt. They enjoyed a few short years walking at Wildwood Park, the Toledo Symphony and dancing at the Toledo Club. Henk passed away on December 27th, 2011. Mary's greatest passion in life was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Anyone who knew Mary knew how proud she was of each and everyone of them. She was preceded in death by her husband Barney, her parents, her sister, Jean, her son, Terrence, grandson Jeremiah and her second husband Henk. Surviving Mary are her children, Catherine Schrein, New Jersey, Rosemary Mauk, Texas, William and Patricia, Julie and Tony Sadlier, Bernie and Margie, Marianne Kanary, James and Judy, John and Jeanne, Thomas and Heidi and Kelly Kanary. Grandchildren, Aaron and Jenny Schrein, Jonathan and Allison Schrein, Caitlyn Schrein, Jennifer Mauk, Bryan, Mary Jon Mauk, Rebecca and Andrew Scheefhout, Matthew Kanary, Alison and Jeff Marchal, Sarah and Matthew DeLand, Samantha Sadlier, Megan, Kevin and Shannon Kanary, Joshua and Julie Kanary, Erin Kanary, Jamee Kanary, Aaron and Stacy Lindhurst, David and Mandy Lindhurst, Zak Kanary, Daniel and Kayla Kanary, Sean,Tyler and Tara Kanary and her many great grandchildren. Friends may call at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds, Toledo, Thursday, May 10th from 2 to 8 PM. where a rosary will be at 7:00 PM. The funeral will begin Friday in the mortuary at 10:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in Rosary Cathedral , 2535 Collingwood Blvd. Interment Calvary cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Hospice of NW Ohio.
