Patricia R. Leffel

Patricia Louise Renshaw Leffel passed peacefully into her heavenly home on the beautiful sunny afternoon of May 18, 2024, at the golden age of 92. In the days leading up to her passing Pat was visited by family, friends, and many staff workers at Ohio Living Swan Creek where she resided the past 2 ½ years. All had uplifting stories to share about her wit, funny comebacks, and loving ways. She anticipated and looked forward to this day since the passing of her beloved husband, Howard, in 2019, but more so during the past year as her dementia progressed. In discussing her eventual passing a year ago Pat understood she'd be missed but didn't want anyone to be sad about it. One of her favorite sayings was "Life's too short to cry, I'd rather laugh." In her thoughts and deeds, she always considered the feelings of others before her own, never wanting to slight anyone. Born on March 12, 1932, in Toledo to Samuel & Clela Renshaw, she attended Nathan Hale Elementary and DeVilbiss High School, graduating in 1951. While still in high school, Pat worked in the toy department at Woolworth's downtown & in the office at Peterson's Engineering. In December 1951 Pat married the love of her life, Howard, after a 3-year courtship. She worked at Owen's Illinois, Kimble Glass Division, proud that she was instrumental in putting her husband through college at Toledo University. She left office work to begin the task of raising three children: Greg, Kevin, and Tracey, often boasting that those were the best years of her life. Getting restless as her children got older, she sold Avon for several years, worked part-time at Reynolds Construction Co, and volunteered at her church. Pat was a lover of music her whole life, enjoyed playing tennis, pinochle & bunko, and spending summers at their cottage on Lake Erie. Pat is survived by her son, Kevin (Debbie) Leffel and daughter, Tracey (Mark) Elmore; 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard in 2019; parents, Samuel & Clela Renshaw; sister Maryanne, and son, Gregory. Memorials can be made to either Church of the Cross United Methodist or to St Jude's Children Hospital. Services and visitation will be handled by Coyle Funeral Home and will be private.
